An international conference of Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS) members
Practical & Logistics
The Conference will be hosted in the Maldives on 13 and 14 November 2007. Delegates will be invited to participate in an inauguration on the morning of Tuesday, 13 November. The conference will close on Wednesday, 14 November at 17h. Since the Conference will address a variety of policy issues relating to climate change and will try to agree a common approach among Small Island States, it is important that Conference participants include senior officials with necessary decision-making capacity. We therefore strongly encourage you to consider nominating a high-ranking official to participate in the Conference.

Thanks to the generous support of the Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation, the organizers are able to provide all Least Developed Country members of AOSIS with funding for one Economy flight ticket to Male’, via the most direct and economic route, up to a ceiling of US$ 4,000. A special fund has also been established to assist other developing country members of AOSIS with the cost of flights to the Maldives. Access to this fund will be on a first-come first-served basis. Finally, the organizers will cover the cost of hotel accommodation for one delegate for all AOSIS members. Due to accommodation limitations in the Maldives, countries are kindly requested to limit the total size of their delegation to two people. Both the Draft Declaration and the Draft Resolution will be sent to AOSIS capitals for comments by mid October. The documents will be presented at the conference in two parallel workshops for final comments with a view to adoption at the end of the event. All Members of AOSIS are respectfully requested to complete the registration form at the back of this program and return it to the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Maldives to the United Nations by 19 October 2007. The Form can be faxed to: +1 212 661 6405 or emailed to maldives@un.int
