01 Jun 2016

Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) workshop has commenced today. CAP is a standard adopted by ITU and World Meteorological Organization (WMO) to send all kinds of alerts (disaster/accidents/fire incidents). To send alerts, UNESCAP undertakes the project (CAP on a MAP) in 3 countries of Asia Pacific. In Maldives, the project is undertaken by National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC).

Under this project, Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and Sahaanaa Foundation has developed a software (SAMBRO) and this is implemented by NDMC and Maldives Meteorological Service (MMS). A workshop was held from 29-31 May 2016 to give instructions of the software to the staff of NDMC and MMS.

CAP workshop is organized by NDMC and MMS to give instructions and information about this software to the stakeholders. Technical staff of MMS and a software developer from Sahaanaa Foundation are facilitating the workshop.
