Environment Festival to be held to mark World Environment Day 2016

An Environment Festival is to be held at Rasfannu, the artificial beach on the west side of Male’, to mark World Environment Day 2016. The main objective of the festival is to raise awareness among the public about the environment issues. A press conference was held at the Ministry today to brief the media about Environment Day 2016 activities.

The event will begin on Friday, 3rd June 2016 (tomorrow) at 1600hrs in the afternoon. Certificates will be awarded to participants of the photography competition which was opened for students. Their photos will also be displayed during the event.

An Energy Efficiency Competition will also be launched at this festival. This competition will be held from 3rd to 4th June 2016.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), government institutions, Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), police, schools, NGOs, the Maldives National University (MNU) and Dhiraagu will be conducting various activities for children.
