Prizes awarded to the winners ‘Saafu Raajje 3R Competition’

Prizes awarded to the winners ‘Saafu Raajje 3R Competition’ at a ceremony held at Dharubaaruge this morning. Mulaku School won the first place and grand prize of the competition while Dhigurah School won the first place in Nursery and Pre-school category. The prizes were awarded by Minister of Environment and Energy, Honorable Thoriq Ibrahim and Minister of Education, Dr. Aishath Shiham.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Environment and Energy, Honorable Thoriq Ibrahim said that such activities would be beneficial to the whole society.

The purpose of this competition is to instigate the habit of practicing 3Rs, contributing to better waste management and enhanced recycling efforts, by applying their creative skills to develop projects on the theme Reduce, Reuse and Recycle (3R). During the 2015 Regional 3R Forum for Asia and the Pacific, hosted in the Maldives, it was announced that every year, 16th August will be marked as the “National 3R day”. This year marks the second year to commend the day at a national level.
