Third Steering Committee meeting of Strengthening Low Carbon Energy Island Strategies held

Strengthening Low Carbon Energy Island Strategies (LCEI) Project held the third steering committee (SC) meeting of the project at the Ministry today. The meeting was chaired by the Minister of State for Environment and Energy, Mr.Abdullahi Majeed. Officials from the Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure, Maldives Energy Authority and relevant departments of the Ministry of Environment and Energy participated in the meeting.

In today’s meeting, the progress of the project was shared with the SC members by the Project Management Unit (PMU). The work plan for the year 2018 was endorsed by the Steering Committee members as proposed by the Project Management Unit (PMU) of the Project.

The Project “Strengthening Low Carbon Energy Island Strategies Project (LCEI)” aims to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through energy efficiency in the building sector. It is designed with a goal of market transformation for energy efficient technologies in buildings and the built environment in the Maldives; and promotion of energy efficiency investments in buildings.

LCEI Project is funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and executed by the Ministry with implementation support from UN Environment.
