Workshop on Energy Efficiency for Building Design Professionals has been conducted

A workshop on Energy Efficiency for Building Design Professionals was held today at 8th Floor meeting room of Customs Building. The workshop was organized by Ministry of Environment and Energy in association with Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure. In the workshop 20 participants from building sector.

The workshop was organized by two projects currently being implemented by the Ministry of Environment and Energy, namely, “Strengthening Low Carbon Energy Island Strategies” project and “HCFC phase-out management” project.

Speaking at the workshop opening ceremony State Minister of Ministry of Environment and Energy, Mr. Abdullahi Majeed stated that in the future more target workshop and training will be conducted depending on the need.

The workshop was conducted by an expert from United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and Ministry of Environment and Energy.

Main topics covered in the workshop are
• Importance of energy efficiency in the building sector
• HCFC phase out and HCFC phasedown plan
• Energy efficiency and climate friendly policies for buildings and appliances
• Integrated design approach for energy efficient buildings

This project “Strengthening Low Carbon Energy Island Strategies” project is implemented by Ministry of Environment and Energy (MEE) assisted by United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and financed by Government of Maldives and Global Environment Facility (GEF). The project aims to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through energy efficiency in the building sector, increasing energy efficiency in the building sector by developing appropriate policies, guidelines and standards.
