Ministry officially hand overs 262,500 LED lights to Fenaka for distribution

Ministry has officially handed over the LED lights under ‘FahiAli’ program Phase-3 of the Ministry to Fenaka Corporation Limited for distribution. Minister of Environment and Energy, Honorable Mr. Thoriq Ibrahim handed over the LED lights to the Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation Limited, Mr. Ahmed Shareef at a ceremony held at SHE building this evening.
The LED lights were provided to the Ministry under a grant aid by the Government of China. A total of 262,500 LED lights were handed over to Fenaka Corporation Limited for distribution on occasion of World Energy Day, 22nd October 2017. With this, 05 led lights (5MW) would be provided to each household. It is estimated that MVR 1.5 million could be saved from the electricity bill by using these lights.

Under ‘Fahiali’ program phase one a total of 265,000 LED lights were distributed to Government institutions and households. The LED lights were distributed to 164 islands and 511 institutions. It is estimated that this will result in MVR 40 million would be saved in a year from the electricity bill by using the LED lights.

Under ‘Fahiali’ program phase two 75000 led lights were distributed to differeny institutions and individuals.
Also, under ‘Fahiali Ban’dharu’ a total of 534 harbor lights were provided to 07 islands. It is estimated that MVR 74 million would be saved from the electricity bill in a year by using these lights.
In this ceremony, Solar Panels were handed over to Maldives Girl Guide Association and The Scout Association of Maldives to make the youth more familiar to Renewable Energy.
