Contract signed for building Coastal Protection Structures at Gaafu Dhaalu atoll Gahdhoo island

Contract has been signed for building Coastal Protection Structures in Gaaf Dhaalu atoll Gahdhoo island. The contract was awarded to Heavy Force Private Limited to undertake coastal protection works in GDH. Gahdhoo. This project is identified under Public Sector Investment Plan (PSIP) projects to be implemented in 2016.

Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. Thoriq Ibrahim signed the contract on behalf of the Ministry while the Managing director of Heavy Force Private Limited, Mr. Ibrahim Zameer signed the contract on behalf of the contractor party.

The purpose of this project is to nourish, protect and prevent the areas of the island vulnerable to erosion from further deterioration. The project includes construction of 950 m rock revetment in Gahdhoo.

The proposed cost by the contractor for the project is MVR 18,956,710.36 and is expected to be completed in 180 days.
