Malé, Maldives – The Ministry of Climate Change, Environment, and Energy (MCCEE), in partnership with USAID’s South Asia Regional Energy Partnership (SAREP), conducted a stakeholder consultation on January 20, 2025, to discuss the development of the Energy Efficiency (EE) Labelling Regulation.
The proposed regulation, developed under Clause 57(A) of the Energy Act, aims to establish a robust legal framework to encourage the adoption of energy-efficient appliances and equipment in the Maldives.
During the consultation, USAID SAREP experts presented an overview of the draft regulation and facilitated discussions on its implementation framework. Stakeholders, including representatives from government institutions, importers, and retailers, provided valuable input on the proposed scope, market dynamics, and compliance mechanisms.
The development of the labelling regulation is supported by USAID through the South Asia Regional Energy Partnership (SAREP), which provides technical expertise and resources to advance energy efficiency initiatives in the Maldives. The feedback gathered during the consultation will be incorporated into the final draft of the regulation, ensuring it aligns with stakeholder needs and market realities.
