Contract signed for the Supply and Installation of Renewable Energy Hybrid Power Plants in 15 islands of Haa Alifu atoll

Contract signed for the Supply and Installation of Renewable Energy Hybrid Power Plants in 15 islands of Haa Alifu atoll. The contract was awarded to Changzhou Trina Solar Energy Cooperation Limited of China. Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. Thoriq Ibrahim signed the contract while the Deputy General Manager of Changzhou Trina Solar Energy Cooperation Limited, Mr. Brayan signed the contract on behalf of the company.

Under the first phase of installing renewable energy hybrid power plants, some islands are using the solar power. This is the second phase of the project and is targeted to the inhabited islands of Haa Alifu atoll. Under this project, 2.3 MW Solar PV systems, 17 generators (3.3MW) and automatic synchronizing cables will be established. Also, Energy Management Systems will be established in these islands.

This project is funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the total cost of the project is MVR 10.4 Million.
