Prizes awarded to winners of ‘Ozone Model Competition 2017’

Prizes awarded to the winners of ‘Ozone Model Competition 2017’ at an event held at National Art Gallery this morning. It was held from 16th September- 16th October 2017 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Montreal Protocol. The competition was opened to all students of grade 1 to 12 in the Maldives and it was held by Ministry of Environment and Energy in cooperation with United Nations Environment. The themes of the competition are ‘Ozone Layer Protection’ and ‘Effects of Climate Change/Global Warming.’

The certificates and prizes to the winners was given by Minister of Environment and Energy, Honorable Mr. Thoriq Ibrahim.

The prize of the first winner is a sponsored roundtrip to the Ozone Action Office at UN Environment, Asia and the Pacific office in Bangkok, Thailand. The first place in the competition was secured by Mohamed Viaam Abdulla and Aahil Ahmed Isthafa of Gaazee School.

The second prize of the competition is visit to a resort to see State of Art Refrigeration and Air Conditioning facilities installed. This prize was awarded to Ali Aiham, Shainee Hussain and Mohamed Saamih of Gaazee School.

The third prize of the competition is visit to a fish processing factory to see State of Art Refrigeration and Air Conditioning facilities installed. This prize was awarded to Azha Ahmed Musthafa, Mariyam Nalash Naazim and Aminath Neem of Gaazee School.

World Ozone Day is celebrated on 16th September every year.
