President commemorates the inititation of ‘Rah Fehi’ Tree Planting Programme

President His Excellency Ibrahim Mohamed Solih commemorates the initiation of ‘Rah Fehi’ Tree Planting Programme today at Hulhumale’ Phase 2. This program is an inititation of the President as part of his 100 days pledge to improve the environment protection exercises of Maldives. In the inauguration ceremony of this programme, Preisdent was accompanied by Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom, Cabinet Ministers, Senior government officials and senior officials of the Ministry.

The main objective of this programme is to protect the environment and mitigate the climate change impacts and to raise awareness among the public regarding the importance of tree planting and make the public more responsible with regards to a green environment. And also, to identify the trees that are close to extinction and conserve it.

The inauguration of the ‘Rah Fehi’ programme was followed by a tree planting event in Hulhumale’ Phase 2. His Excellency President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom, cabinet ministers, government officials, NGOs and private organizations have actively participated in this tree planting programme. This event was held in cooperation with Housing Development Corporation (HDC).

Under the ‘Rah Fehi’ programme, a total of 4000 trees will be planted in different islands of Maldives under the inititation of the Ministry.
