Sewerage works was inaugurated in Fuvahmulah City by the President of Maldives, His Excellency Abdulla Yaameen Abdul Gayyoom at a ceremony held in Fuvahmulah city. Under this project, two pump stations, 20 km vacuum network, 31 km vacuum station gravity network and 308m sea outfall would be established.
The total cost of the project is MVR 297 million and MVR 142 million would be funded by the Public Service Investment Program (PSIP) budget of Government of Maldives. The rest is funded by Kuwait Fund for Arabic Economic Development.
The contract to establish sewerage system in Fuvahmulah City was signed on May 2016 with Sierra Construction Private Limited.
